Contracted by the Green Fund, a multi-organizational committee managing $6M+ in ecological initiative funding, our team set on a path to revolutionize the way this academic institution recycled. See it here.

The main challenge was the size of project (25K+ customer base with 72 buildings), lack of an operational foundation for effective recycling, and the design requirement to become self-sustainable to ensure continuity.

Acquiring $120K in initial pilot investment, we validated the self-sustainability portion of the business in the second commodity market. With a projected revenue of ~$150K/yr, the system became self-sustainable after two years of operation with an ROI of 8yrs.

An investment proposition was presented to the university President Diana Natalicio (Times 100 in 2016) and the Board of Regents. It was approved for a five year implementation plan.
